Relics of an Unknown User

Intro

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a technology that connects objects and users through a network to sense, recognize, and manage objects. As one of the notable applications of IoT, smart home appliances are everywhere, and people enjoy the convenience they bring. Yet, we may be overlooking one thing: we are constantly being observed and recorded unintentionally. In the future digital age, objects are best able to remember information about people. In this work, I assume the disappearance of an unknown user (lost account or physical death). By disassembling and analyzing the relics of that user, we can see how the user’s life was “monitored” and “recorded”. The viewer can speculate on what that deceased person was like during his or her lifetime, and contemplate the range of issues posed by the IoT environment in which humanity will live in the future.
